This guide explains which image type you need for your specific application – whether you are printing product labels, designing packaging, or listing online.

What Barcode Image Formats Do We Offer?

We supply your barcode in the following formats, depending on your package:

Format Best For Key Feature
PNG (Raster) Online stores, email attachments, quick printing. Transparent background, good resolution, universally viewable.
JPG (Raster) Basic online use or previews. Smaller file size, but not recommended for professional printing.
SVG (Vector) Professional packaging, high-quality printing, resizing. Scalable without losing quality – perfect for large labels.
PDF (Vector) Print-ready artwork, sharing with packaging designers. Preserves vector quality and is widely compatible.

 

Purchased here. This could be EAN-13 or UPC-A, QR Codes (or other 2D barcodes, ITF-14 Carton codes, Code-39 or Code-128 asset tracking barcodes, or just about anything else. The price per barcode image is the same. Please ensure that you provide us with the necessary information in ‘additional information’ after proceeding to checkout when filling out your details. This will mean your barcode number, or the information to be encoded in your QR code or code-39/128 barcodes.

    If you require any other type of barcode image, you can purchase this here. We routinely supply the following formats of barcodes: EAN-13, UPC-A, ITF-14, Code-128, Code-39, QR Code, SSCC Codes and various other types of 2D and 1D Barcodes. Please enter the quantity of different barcode image sets you require, and enter your barcode numbers or information to be encoded in the ‘additional information’ section when checking out. We will email you your barcode images as attached files in several different formats (in 3 formats (PNG, PDF & SVG). These images are sent in a standard size by default – If you require a different size, please specify this in the ‘additional information’ section.

Why Image Quality Matters

A blurry or low-resolution barcode will not scan. To ensure universal acceptance, follow these guidelines:

  • Resolution: For printed labels, use at least 300 DPI (dots per inch).

  • Format: Always choose vector formats (SVG, PDF) for packaging – they remain sharp at any size.

  • Quiet Zone: Maintain a blank margin (quiet zone) of at least 10x the narrow bar width around your barcode.

Pro Tip: If you are unsure which format to choose, SVG is the safest all-rounder for both print and digital use.
